Heritage Open Day celebrates Aylesbury’s treasures
Heritage Open Day is a nationwide celebration of England's fantastic architecture and culture by offering free access to properties that are usually closed to the public or normally charge for admission.
Co-ordinated nationally by the Civic Trust in partnership with English Heritage, the event thrives on the enthusiasm and expertise of local people. Thousands of volunteers from all walks of life share their knowledge and memories with some 850,000 visitors every year, making Heritage Open Days England's largest voluntary cultural event.
Walking tours of the old town & cemetery will take place during the day
In 1993 Aylesbury was chosen by the Civic Trust as one of nine towns in England to organise a European Heritage Day, and the successful day was organised by The Aylesbury Society. Since that time a number of years have been organised. For the second year running Aylesbury Town Council are in partnership with The Aylesbury Society in organising a day for everyone.
